Roman worked as a Researcher and Senior Lecturer at the TU Wien, Faculty of Informatics. He holds a doctoral degree (TU Wien) and a master degree (University of Linz) in Business Informatics and has joined the Campus Information Technology Department of the TU Wien in 2019.
His main research interests are complex user interfaces (especially for mobile and tangible multimedia production). Besides the general interest in usability, user experience and the question how tools and methods can support the development of feasible interface and interaction design he also explores the boundaries of technology and society.
Special interests: user-experience, user-interfaces (not only for mobile devices), accessible interfaces, multimedia interfaces, tangible user-interfaces
Additional interests: digital society, privacy, intellectual property, open source

Projects
Schaukasten: Supporting young children (1-6 years old) with visual impairment to train their eyesight. The goal is to provide multimodal toys that are both playful and effective. (2016-2018, Project Lead)
RAUCHFREI für mich und mein Kind: RAUCHFREI aims to support pregnant women to quit smoking. Therefore guidelines and prototypes for persuasive mobile applications are developed, implemented, and evaluated (in cooperation with the “Hauptverband der Sozialversicherungsträger” and the “NÖGKK”). (2015-2016, Senior Researcher)
RE:ACTA: RE-ACTA aims to address the volunteer’s requirements concerning a crowd tasking tool for crisis and disaster management and its usability requirements as well as involved legal, privacy and data quality aspects as well as questions concerning target group marketing. The goal is to foster the resilience of the public while at the same time relieving emergency and humanitarian organizations from an uncoordinated influx of information or spontaneous volunteers (in cooperation with the Austrian Red Cross). (2013-2015, Researcher)
ReHABITAT-ImmoCHECK+: The project develops the conceptual basis of a gender and age sensitive set of instruments for illustrating the development potential of vacant or not fully occupied single-family detached houses. This potential can be generated by re-densification and by fostering innovative forms of living together. Furthermore this set of instruments permits an assessment of the houses (successful applicant).
